I wondered, though, if you understand how our political system works, particularly at present. The bill APPEARED to pass just barely, but had the 8 renegade Republicans not voted "No," they would have been replaced immediately by negative votes from the Democrats. Those things are balanced out very carefully by leadership. 44 Dems got a "pass" on very unpopular legislation to help them in next year's elections. A similar situation with the reconciliation bill: anything the Democrats don't like will disappear (such as John Carter's amendments, had they been brought to a vote and passed) and NEW legislation will be added. The reconciliation bill requires only a simple majority vote, guaranteed in both House and Senate after last year's disaster. As for "I won't support.____?" Mr. Obama will smile sweetly and say, "I just sign what they send me." Ah, well, no wonder Janet Neapolitano says I have all the earmarks of being a terrorist other than being returned from active duty in Iraq recently!
