Gold? The price of it is as low as in the eighties (in Euro's) as the oil at the moment (in euro's). Hedge yourself and swap any (saved)dollar you've into an euro account (for the daily expences), what's left: put your money on rare earth elements!

Byron
You asked for comments from Canadian subscribers about the political situation here. Yawn! A tempest in a tea cup. A minority or coalition government generally is good government as they have difficulty agreeing on new programs and legislation so nothing gets passed in the house. No new programs equals no new spending and a reprieve for we long suffering tax payers.
Also in a parlamentary system there are established rules and precidents for dealing with these situations. In short , our current situation does not mean we have suddenly become politically unstable. It's business as usual.

Byron, how would you change military policy? How do you think we should deal with terrorists? What do you think of http://www.stratfor.com? Do you have any favorite websites and books dealing with military issues? Are there any military bases you think should be eliminated?

Which States produce the most gold, silver, and copper?

Which companies do you like dealing with energy transmission?

Which companies do you like dealing with energy development?

Which companies do you like dealing with making coal pollute less?

Are there any car companies you think are good investments? What do you think of http://www.evolutionshift.com that discusses automobiles?

If the federal government is serious about growing the economy, creating jobs, and reducing the probability of very high inflation which is especially harmful to people on fixed incomes and people who have saved money, the federal government should stop taxing capital gains, interest from savings accounts, dividends, and estates. Middle class people and union members who have mutual funds would benefit from capital gains and dividends not being taxed.

I ran for the United States Senate from New Hampshire in 2002.
