Andre,

If you had ever read Gulliver's Travels or understood the true definition of science fiction (any given situation projected to it's ultimate extreme), you might have recognized my Booster Law piece for what it is: Satire and a warning to remain vigilant. Legislatures (local, state and federal) love to slip things by you in the dark of night that restrict or control your life. Additionally, when something as silly as this Booster Law 'improvement' comes along, even when it 'only' affects children under 4'9" and younger than age 8, the only way you can truly deal with it is to find a way to have some fun. Don't you wonder what the next Booster Law improvement might do?

Loosen up, Andre. Laugh a little and have some fun. Before the next new law or 'improvement' to an existing law affects you directly.

Regardless of nanny state issues, I don't think there is any possible reading of that law that would require it for anyone over 8 years old.

"A person commits an offense if the person transports a child who is younger than eight [five] years of age, unless the child is taller than four feet, nine inches[and less than 36 inches in height], and does not keep the child secured during the operation of the vehicle in a child passenger safety seat system according to the instructions of the manufacturer."

Ah, grubvernment incompetence at it's best... and innovations to increase the incompetence. Remember to reelect these buffoons, after all, you wouldn't want them working in a real business.

Jack,

Of course not. That would require either intelligence or a higher level of stupidity. As for the backlog of CHL permits, there's an easy solution to that one. And it's a solution that already exists in many other states. Open carry.

Does the booster seat bill apply to school buses or other government transportation such as city buses? Leave it to a Congress that only meets every other year to come up with useless laws. Here's an idea: fix Texas' CHL laws that created a backlog of applications that DPS can't even begin to work through.

Somebody should have gotten my mother one. Towards the end of her driving career friends report that all that could be seen was a fluff of white hair! Love your humor.
