It's amazing how years after the whole "Pokemon craze" took off there still are kids today trading the latest version of those cards. Having been in the top 50 Pokemon Trading Game players "back in the day" (along with my daughter) I can attest that some of those cards were worth much more than the mighty dollar.

As an analogy for the system of accepted currency it makes even more sense. We've seen in history that various items were accepted as currency, from gold, to beads, to cocoa beans. It all depended on what had value. In this world economy the US dollar has been the currency to trade with, based on our track record, but when Charizard or Pikachu start having better track records, you can bet that Pokemon will become the "dollar" of choice.

Thanks for this great article that makes this very clear. It is going to be very important to watch what our government does and to be ready to accept the consequences of being the generation that keep or loses our "status" in the world economy. We better be carefully looking at our options, as citizens. And making the right choices for ourselves, personally.
