I think Clarence Thomas is QUITE well qualified to be on the Supreme Court, particularly if he has learned not to hire people based on the color of their skin. Any other questions? LBT

James, I am, indeed, ignorant about some things…such as how to hand craft an incandescent light bulb…and diagnosing botts…why anyone wears black lipstick, and how anyone could be a fascistic, socialistic, Statist…but I NEVER rant.

I never raise my voice for any reason, nor do I allow loud, angry voices in my presence, and all discussions here are academic. We do not indulge in ad hominen arguments.

At the very least we are going to have The Greater Depression, and very likely the anti-Industrial Revolution. The future will belong primarily to two classes: the elite, and those who manage to escape to a lifestyle reminescent of 1820 (IF they can get away from the legislation being rammed through Congress.) Life will be good for the Rajahs, the Czars, warlords, chieftains, commanders of mercenaries, the lawless, and hermits. The rest will be, as Ayn Rand commented, “huddled in huts along the Ganges,” or in vast city slums.

The Renaissance was a delightful time for the upper classes. Most eras of history are. The solution, my dear, is to position yourself so that you are not one of those on a fixed, declining income in a period of rising costs and devalued fiat currency. Develop the spirit of a robber baron or a feudal earl, learn to survive entirely through your own efforts, or resign yourself to want and squalor.

One facet of history I am particularly aware of is that when tools cease to be uselful they are discarded ruthlessly by those who duped them. The vast welfare voting block and unions have served its purpose of electing a totally fascistic Congress and president. They have in place all the judges, executive orders, presidential signings, and legislation needed to put a stop to any pretense that this is a republic devoted to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness for more than a very few. Sooner or late those groups are going to have to share the wealth they have wrested from the rest of us. We can all starve together, or a few of us can work out better options. Are you doing any planning along those lines? If so, I would like to hear about your preparations.

Anybody ever seen me apologizing for Dubya? You really haven’t heard my opinion on Bush Senior! I villify the man every time I see all the good parking places in the US off limits to the likes of me. He never understood–as Bill Clinton did superbly–that his most important job was to veto every bit of legislation the other side passed.

I, too, am an admirer of Dr. Paul, who has his own seat in Congress and a terrific web site and doesn’t need my stamp of approval. Mo’ bettah Dr. Paul should tell ME “well done” and cheer up my day, because it would mean a great deal more to me than the other way around, you see.

Now that we have all vented our frustrations, what say we get back to working out how to save our necks? We can work out precise gradations of blame while most of the survivors are huddled around cooking fires roasting geckos. I can see the day when Michelle Ma Belle Obama, the miniature donkey I got from a petting zoo, is our “pick up truck.” Bonnie Blue and Buck will be our transportation, either under saddle or pulling the doctor’s buggy…we may reinstitute droit du seigneur, being such bloated plutocrats, reveling in our reasonably plump chickens who subsist on things that leap, jump, wriggle, and creep…harvesting roots and berries in the woods to roast for ersatz coffee we sell to the desperate, Juan Valdez having become a distant memory…

Your task for today, please, gentlemen, is to contribute something useful to the discussion instead of indulging in recriminations. How are we to preserve the best standards of living possible personally? What’s good for General Bullmoose may not be good for the country, but what’s good for LBT is at least good for LBT, ditto you two working out how to have what you want.
