The looks of mindless exultation when they even think of The One bode ill. They are having a "religious" experience, not a political one. To put it in your context, we're looking at idolatry, at self-blinded puppets. I can't see any "charisma" about Mr. Obama, myself, but you can see the real thing on the History Channel frequently. Have you ever listened to Herr Hitler speak? It doesn't matter that you cannot understand what he is saying, it is easy to get caught up in an Eric Hoffer Experience. Read his "The True Believer," if you have not. I read it first in 1959, and have found it true ever since. People WANT to believe. They YEARN to be part of something bigger than themselves. They love pagentry, ceremonies, medals, uniforms, war banners streaming, the grandeur that was Rome. Smile... God does have a plan, as it happens, for after Armageddon. He intends for the survivors to spend a thousand years leading happy agrarian lives! I got started early, lucky me, and if you have read much of what I have written you know that nothing money could buy could make me any happier than I am already, with the possible exception of two million hectares in Argentina just to get us away from large populations and intrusive governments. I have a wonderful man I love deeply who adores me, a shabby old house in the country we are having fun renovating ourselves, two terrific hands, our beautiful, funny livestock, and big old dogs are flopped at my feet. I have my friends here at Whisky & Gunpowder, and e- friends all over the country. I have useful work, analyzing and writing, that I do in the comfort of our home for pleasure, not pelf. We have good health at 68 and 71. We lead lives of joy and satisfaction, because it isn't "work" if you want to do it and have someone you love to help you. We turn the TV on for the weather report, read voraciously, and love to cook together. We stay in our own, private oasis most of the time because the outside world has little to offer. What else IS there to want? What else could God provide for any of us other than His love, and He gave that to us long ago. Part of serenity is trusting the Lord to take care of things when He is ready. Of course I am a Christian, crew! I never said so before because nobody asked and I figured it showed! Dear John:

It immediately reminded me of an old nazi propaganda clip I saw many years ago. Whether it was in school, college, or just on the t.v. I don't remember. It was of a young blonde German boy about the same age as the "moppet". He was properly dressed in a Hitler Youth uniform, singing just as angelically. With a nazi swatstika flag in the background........................ I found that video to be actually quite chilling. It immediately reminded me of an old nazi propaganda clip I saw many years ago. I think the fear is not that someone wants to change the world but that it will not be the world we want to live. The underlying ideology being offensive to our unmoving sense of morality. We all want to change the world like it's a virtue. I thought God created the world with a plan in mind for all things? Why do we continue to think that we can improve on that plan? Do we think God is less than perfect and somehow made some mistakes? I watched the video and yeah it was pretty frightening.
