This business of looking into the etymology of certain key words, was practised by Confucius (the chinese moral philosopher): he called it "the rectification of names" The idea was, that in an age of decadence and decline, people forget what it means to be a father, a mother, a son, a daughter, a leader, etc. To rediscover this wisdom, you must go back to what the words denoting these things originally meant.
