Good stuff - I put a link in my preview today.

The sad thing is that we will never learn - at least Geithner and Bernanke are getting ripped cranking on the press!

The emperor is standing naked, but if the US Gov. keeps telling us we are ok and we believe it then we will all be standing naked in the near future.

A big thanks to Sam for tending the bar today. I couldn’t make heads or tails of this stuff without her.

A few people have written in response to yesterday’s article by James Howard Kunstler…

"Hey!

"No fair! Writing that the “...nation is determined to become the Bulgaria of the western hemisphere...” is a slur on Bulgaria.

"After so many years of communism and then economic turmoil as people had to rediscover looking after themselves, Bulgaria has made huge strides forward. The people work hard, are rebuilding the country, and are under few illusions about government and the state of the world. The country is receiving a lot of foreign investment and is an agricultural paradise. Not a bad place to live.

"If it were a choice for me, now, between living in the USA and Bulgaria, I’d take the small, friendly, developing country over the unmanageably large, aggressive, developing nation."

I sense a slight Bulgarian bias here, Shooter, but I like where you’re coming from. Heck, who wouldn’t want to flee from an empire as it slides into chaos and decline? And Sofia has some beautiful architecture.

Another Shooter writes, “We have cut way back and only pay cash for everything!”

Good thinking! I’ve done the same. In line with the Agora Way, I like to stay a couple steps ahead of the curve. I figured it was best to get used to being poor before penury was forced on me.

Years ago while everyone was partying with credit cards and mortgage refinance, I decided to give up car use, electronic toys, leisure travel and shopping sprees. Now poverty fits me like a broken-in pair of loafers.

My advice to everyone is the same; arrange your life so you live in as small a space as is practical and as near to your source of income as possible; walking distance would be ideal.

Get very cheap hobbies. If your idea of a good time involves lots of expensive booze, fine foods, credit card use or anything involving combustion engines, you may want to work on that. Another Shooter agrees…

"The best time in life happens after you downsize. First you drop that damn EGO thing. Then you look around and start to see how really small and insignificant you really are. It hits you when nobody calls and the whole world keeps right on going. Just like you were never there. The fact that you ran 5 companies and financed 18 start-up companies means nothing. But now the fun begins. You enjoy the grandkids, the garden and the flowers. The time you have left, hell even your wife looks better. You have a nice day and if the sun shines tomorrow, I will be out fishing."

Thank you for sending that.

Till Tomorrow,
Gary Gibson
