Total Government Leads to Total Misery
Am I speaking or writing about the War of Northern Aggression, incorrectly called the ‘Civil War’? Not on your life. I am talking about North and South Korea, and North and South Rhodesia. America is rapidly approaching the condition of North Korea and Zimbabwe, which used to be Southern Rhodesia.. Look at the absolute facts, and shudder.
North Korea is total government, as is Zimbabwe, or any other totalitarian state. Zimbabwe used to be Southern Rhodesia. Southern Rhodesia had thousands of individually owned, prosperous farms. Southern Rhodesia exported food, and was an extremely rich, white ruled, free nation. It became independent from Britain in 1965. It was bordered by Zambia, (Northern Rhodesia, which was never free), Mozambique, (formerly a Portuguese colony), and Botswana. In 1978, after years of incredible pressure from the United Nations, Rhodesian President Ian Smith, signed an agreement with three black African leaders, with the promise of white protection. Fat chance. That sealed the doom of Rhodesia. I can still hear Smith begging for help from the free world, as his nation was being overrun, smothered and ruined, but there was no help. Rhodesia became Zimbabwe, and with it, total government, poverty, deforestation, inflation, murder, and seizing of white farms. Total government, in short, took what used to be prosperous Rhodesia, and turned it into total poverty, no freedom, and actual slavery. Whites are gone, as are their farms, which have been divided up and given to blacks, ‘who needed them.’ Whites are also gone or leaving South Africa after being murdered and their farms and businesses seized.
North Korea, as opposed to South Korea, is the difference between night and day. North Koreans are starving, regimented, murdered, and live in abject poverty. North Korea does not lack natural resources, farm land, rain and sunshine, but it has total government. Total government has enslaved, and is literally starving the populace. South Korea makes things, sells things, and is happy and prosperous. South Korea’s government is miniscule, compared to America’s, and that’s why Korean cars are excellent, and lots of things are made and exported in and from South Korea.
In 1935, Amos Pinchot wrote that, “Today the nations in the world may be divided into two classes. The nations in which the government fears the people, and the nations in which the people fear the government.” And that sentence speaks volumes.
When America was founded, the government was at the will of the citizens and states. Today, central government in Washington D.C., with thousands of branches and bureaucrats everywhere, are ruling us, rather than us ruling them. We are afraid of government, whereas government should be afraid of us. It isn’t, and thus we have the addendum to the health care bill, which was passed without a single Republican vote, part of which says that any sale over $600 must be reported on a 1099 form to the IRS, beginning Jan 1st, 2012.
This is fantasy, as far as I can see. Buy a new refrigerator and get a 1099? Buy a new sofa and get a 1099? Buy lots of groceries at one time and get a 1099? Buy a new or used car and get a 1099? Transmission job and get a 1099? How about a yard sale of a $600 something or other? Buy a row boat or canoe and get a 1099? Buy or sell a single Gold Eagle and get a 1099? Millions of forms flooding the IRS, and thousands of new employees to handle them? In addition to the 17,000 new IRS employees to search out everyone to be sure they have health insurance? That would make the IRS probably the largest bureaucracy in D.C. It’s simply too absurd to contemplate. There’s already a bill in Congress to delete this provision of the health care bill, and why not get rid of the whole thing? When idiotic Congress does a 2,000 page bill, and inserts a provision in it, without even a particle of thinking; obviously it must be deleted, or we will become a slave state almost overnight! This absurdity doesn’t take place till Jan 1st, 2012, and by that time, this provision will no longer exist, I am certain.
Which brings us back to North Korea and Zimbabwe, which have total government. As my son David’s bumper strips say, “Government is not the answer.” This fact is becoming quite obvious to millions of Americans, and we have the Tea Party as proof. The socialistic Democrats are scared to death of November, and I don’t blame them. They’ll do everything in their power to change America’s disgust with them, but hopefully it won’t work, because they’d all be lies.
We’re on the march, via Obama and his henchmen in Congress, towards total government, total poverty and enslavement, a la North Korea and Zimbabwe. We cannot allow this to happen. Why isn’t it so obvious to Democrats, that the more government we have, the less responsibility we have, the less prosperity we have, the less jobs we have, and the less freedom and happiness we have? It is as plain as the nose on their faces. Why should it be necessary to clean out Congress? The Democratic platform of 1924 read in part: “We demand that the states of the Union shall be preserved in all their vigor and power. They constitute a bulwark against the centralizing and destructive tendencies of the Republican party.” Got that? The Democrats were worried about the Republicans, back in 1924, and now just the opposite is true. In 1930, as part of a speech, FDR said, “The individual sovereignty of our states must be destroyed.” A lot changed in six years, and the change has stuck with the Democrats.
As I finish this; last week, an additional 464,000, for the first time filled out applications for relief. An average of 450,000 new un-employed each week! Week after week, people are still getting laid off. Who would hire someone today, with compulsory health care on the immediate horizon, paid by the employer? Who would hire anyone now, with a bureaucrat snooping over your shoulder at every turn, to be sure you obeyed the myriad laws regarding hiring someone? Who would attempt to run a business, in the most hostile government attitude towards business in history? Who would start a business if you had the possibility of filling out hundreds of 1099 forms and having an IRS agent checking everything but your blood pressure? Lame brained Congress just passed billions more in benefits for the unemployed, so why should anyone even look for a job, when they can get $500 a week in some places, for sitting on their duffs and watching inane TV? Writing this drivel, makes me sick. What has happened to America?

Don Stott

Minor but important correction to Don Stott’s “Total Misery” blog of 7/26. It will be the seller of any item over $600 that will receive the 1099. It will be the responsibility of every purchaser of any item over $600 to send a 1099 to the appropriate party with said Form 1099 to include the name address and correct Federal ID number of the seller. Just imagine the bedlam created by every tax payer attempting to contact every store, internet seller, etc just to get their FEIN. Imagine how many 1099′s will be received by companies that do any reasonable volume of business. And if their income doesn’t match the collective amount of 1099 income reported, here come the auditors. Sheer bedlam.

What a moron the author is! Any implication that modern republicans are different than modern democrats in any significant way is pure blindness, brainwashing or insanity. 99.99999% of the members of both parties are elitist authoritarian totalitarian predators — PERIOD. Don’t fall into the left-right or democrat-republican delusion. This is a pure “Jedi mind trick”, nothing more. Once upon a time there probably were some modest differences, but today they are so infintesimal as to be absurd to discuss – because they are UTTERLY beside the point. The issue is, are individual humans willing to be slaves to these predators who cloak themselves in the TOTAL FICTION of “government” (a “fictitious entity”, lawfully, legally and actually). Only because the vast majority of humans are literally, clinically, technically and massively INSANE has the state of the world and USSA gotten so absurd, out of control, and definitely beyond the point of no return.
Yes, it is INSANE to believe fictions are real, and it is massively insane to spend most of your time, effort and resources taking actions that presume the fiction exists. Modern humans are utterly, and quite possibly terminally insane. No “government” (or corporation, or organization) exists. They are even called “fictitious entities” in law, because few humans were so insane as to confuse reality with fiction hundreds of years ago (not including religious fictions, unfortunately).
All the endless articles warning about the bad days to come, and the dangers of government, forget the primary point — governments are fictions; they do not exist. What does exist are predators – humans who fleece and enslave producers by means of utterly fraudulant fictions like government, acts, statutes, regulations, and so forth. But they are human predators – period.
Fundamentally, the history of mankind is the story of “predator versus producer”. Thousands of years ago, humans could be predators because sufficient naturally occuring water, food-sources (plants, animals) and shelters (caves, etc) existed to support a planet of predators. The human population started increasing in earnest when some humans became producers, not predators – they *created* what did not exist, and would not have been created by natural processes. This exploded the available quantity of goods, and supported large increases in human population.
Today, the 7 billion humans on earth consume many thousand times more goods than occur naturally. Thus, the vast majority of humans can no longer be predators. However, the history of “government” and other fictitious entities is the story of PREDATORS controlling producers. They enslave the producers so they can live as predators. These predators have ZERO benefit — they are 100% destructive. And they must be eliminated, and eliminated soon, because soon their control of technological systems will assure their authoritarian predator rule will become PERMANENT… with no way to reverse… EVER. You may think this exaggerated, but it is plain fact, and they know it. Look what they’ve done already via their influence and control of education and media — they’ve rendered 99.999% of humans INSANE… utterly, totally insane. Even most liberty advocates believe government exists… that government ***must*** exist… never realizing that government CANNOT exist. No fiction can exist… that’s what a fiction is.
Wake up, humans. Get real.
What a load of hyperbole and disgusting rhetoric. Jesus Christ. Calm down before you have a heart attack. Obama and his gang of Henchman are going to turn us into North Korea! Really? This is your logical discourse on our present political situation?
Let’s get one thing perfectely straight. I know you hyperventilating Republicans hate logic and facts when it is so much more effective to scream FIRE and get the entire country into a panic so that you may regain power, but on January 20th, 2001 this country had a budget surplus of 289 billion dollars that was handed over to a Republican Congress and Republican Administration. On January 20th 2009, the Republican Party handed over to a new Democratic Administration a 1.3 Trillion dollar yearly deficit. Period. So you have no credibility whatsoever as it regards money or accounting. Just keep screaming. It’s what you do so well, because it diverts attention from the facts. North Korea. Really? Calm down and try to help the situation by working together instead of making half of this countries citizens hate the other half, just so you can get back in power and steal another 800 Billion dollars from the American Taxpayer like you did September 2008 to bail out the Banks. Lehman Brothers imploded in a Republican administration. That is a fact. Why not stop screaming and crying about your loss of the money machine, and try to work together as Americans to solve some of these problems instead of breeding hate.
It is so GOOD to see you back on W&G, Don. It is even good to see that you have a piece of “hate mail.” I’ll work out what that’s indicative of in this financial and political climate after I finish smiling over your appearance here. Couldn’t hurt to take a baby aspirin because I’m with you all the way! Regards, Linda
Rick Moore speaking of loosing logic do you realize who controls the budget? Who has had the budget since 2005? Congress. Which idiots are in control of congress since 2005? There is a difference between a budget deficit and actualt debt. Want to talk bail outs eh? Who voted for this lock stock and barrel? D e m o c r a t s. How is that stimulus working out?
Work together as Americans? ROFLMAO you idiot. I suppose you subcribe to the “we are all in this together” crap? Obama has just stated the other day he supports the liberal progressive aganda and endorsed their bigotry and dirty tricks. He also said republican ideas will take us backwards. So how about lets start with the bigotry and hate at the top? Democrats are unwilling to work with anyone except themselves. They move like Borg same arguements from coast to coast. Your own post proves my point you dolt. Liberalism is a disorder, backwards thinking, it breeds hate, bigotry and failure.
Rick and DK you both are exactly what is wrong with this country …thanks

Actually, Don and Howard, it is only businesses that will have to send out 1099′s for every purchase. Still heinous! Apparently no one thought about Office Depot, etc. receiving millions of paper 1099′s! Or that every seller’s I.D. number is going to be in the possession of every customer. Individuals should get an employer I.D. number now to avoid the rush, so they don’t have to give out their Social Security number. And will WalMart take a chance on a small supplier now, if it means that much more paperwork? I think not! This administration is doing its best to eliminate small companies-the ones that provide money for the unemployed when they start their own, and jobs to others when those companies grow a bit.
Oldman river. Is that all you got?
I run a small business, employ people, pay taxes, obey the law. and I do not leech of anyone and I never will. So please tell my why I am the problem or shut the f up. It must be that you hate facts. .Remember like Rick said we must all get along. You sir are the problem. now go see if your governemnt check has arrived and you are welcome.
To DK – not that facts actually matter but the hated Democrats did not take over Congress – the House and the Senate until the elections on November 7,2006 and Nancy Pelosi became the speaker of the House until January of 2007. Harry Reid and the Democrats took over the Senate at the same time.
I think Hurricane Katrina, the wars- Iraq, Afganistan, massive deficits and Larry Craig, Mark Foley, and Jack Abramoff might have had something to do with this and not the evil liberalism you speak of.
Before that from January 1995 until January 2007, Newt Gingrinch and Denny Hastert were Speaker of the House with Bob Livingston in there in late 1996 until his numerous affairs came out. Bob Dole, Trent Lott, and Bill Frist were the Republican Senate leaders from 1995 – 2007 too.
Lastly, is are the liberal evil acts such as the Civil Rights Act, Voting Rights Act, Title 9, Medicare, Medicaid, Clean Air, Clean Water, OSHA, the evil of which you speak. I know you are not speaking of Abu Ghraib, that his water mark of Conservatism as evil are you?
DK The reason I said that is for your obvious lack of manners. You are very angry about something. Nothing will get solved when all people can do is yell and swear at each other trying to assign blame. You do not have any intention of getting along with anyone. I agree to a certain point with what Rick Moore was saying but not the way he said it. I disagree with with most of what Mr Stott was saying but he has an absolute right to say what he wants as does everyone but until people start realizing that we are all going to have to work together nothing will get done. I too have run business’s. I have hired people, I obey the laws. I do get Governement subsidies so yes thanks. I dont hate facts what I dislike are people that cannot discuss issues calmly and realize that cannot agree to disagree without hatred and vitrol. Both parties got us into this mess. Everyone in this country owns a piece of this mess. I do hope you get over being angry.
DK, I agree with your sentiments, but decorum, my dear sir, decorum. I liked the second post, too, same comment. Besides, I think it annoys them more when we don’t use their kind of language. Tell us about your business? Linda
Karen: excellent points, and welcome to the crew. Let’s hear more from you. Linda
Sorry Linda, however I have discoverd to reach these people you need to stoop down sometimes. Oldmanriver is proof of the backwards of the left. I was raised being told to do what I now do. Start a business, get a home, have no debt, pay taxes. Heck I even got a mortgage during the housing bubble (no ARM, Gasp!)and I intend to pay it off. How wrong is that for America? Oldmanriver would have me just not pay it I guess. You see I do not need some governement official to tell me how to live ro run my business. I am honest which the left will never believe because all buisness is bad and dis-honest by nature to them. To them I am lucky and nothing more. My success has nothing to do with luck ro government and they hate that as well. Oh and I run a smal landscaping business and have two slaves.
DK,
I sent you a reply yesterday but unfortunately the spam filter has eaten it. You obviously know nothing about me. What I disagree with you and RIck Moore about is the way you address people. Its ok to disagree but we have to be able to do it in such that people can continue to communicate. I dont consider myself a left winger, even though others on this site might disagree. Im very tired of both sides not being able to work together. Everyone engages in half truths, hyperbole and a very loose interpretation of facts. Everyone thinks that they are the only ones with answers. You know nothing about me except perhaps what I have written on this site and others. Yet you attibute all kinds of things to me that are not even true. I dont think you are bad I just think you have a lot of anger. You have no respect for other people when you talk like that to them and your message is lost completely. It dosnt even matter if you are right or wrong. Most people here disagree with me on one point or another. Thats fine with me, I dont treat them any less or look down on them at all. We still get along without calling each other names. Linda and I argue on many points but yet she has never called me names, lol well except that Im a liberal which i insist that Im not. I have run a business as well DK. I was a farmer for most of my life until that went south due to the hog market falling out of bed in 98. I lost pretty much everything and owed over 150k. I got a job in town and paid it all off rather than declaring bankruptcy. I have since purchased farmground which is the only debt that I have and I am financing my brother in his farming operation. I dont own a house, the only furnature I have is a table, 2 chairs and an army cot. Im the plant manager of an ethanol plant that had to shut down. I hired an entire staff and I have fired them. Im now in the process of rehiring, training and restarting the plant. My success has had everything to do with hard work and oh yes I was lucky. Several times I have been in the right place at the right time. I pay a lot of taxes and I put very little burden on government myself. Do not try and put me in some cubby hole thinking that you know me. To me you are just very rude and I find that very distasteful.
Rick Moore, please remember that since the election of 2006, the Democrats have had control of the House Appropriations Committee and thus the federal budget. From Sep 1, 2007, all spending has been under the aegis of the Democrats.
Bush’s (and his advisors’) fiscal notions in 2008 were dumber’n dirt. Okay, fine; but the Obama group has not only continued that idiocy, they’ve increased it multifold.
The government is now inextricably interwoven with the lending markets and the investment banks, and has control. The same sort of people who run the TSA are gaining control over the US medical system, and with a public option will come the demise of private health insurance. The proposed levels of taxation will remove a lot of money from the stockpile of investment capital in the private sector. The proposed “cap and trade” structure will increase the cost of living or of busines for all users of electricity; this is wise? Other takeovers include all waters of the United States, whether navigable stream or otherwise.
The history of government controls over an economy is of some degree of failure. North Korea and Zimbabwe are the most egregious examples, and unlikely to occur here. But we’re certainly on a path similar to that of Mexico or Venezuela. The only difference is in the rhetoric used to justify the takeover process.
Now, OMR, you and I agree occasionally, we have very friendly private discussions, and you ARE the resident Liberal we talk to. The PROBLEM is that there is no way to “work together” when people or sides want entirely different things. How could I possibly “work” with Pelosi and Reid when they are determined to legislate “equality of outcome” or “equality of income?” I’m not a communist, I resent being robbed for lazy strangers who aren’t even citizens, and there IS no common ground. They want to cut my throat to distribute my life’s blood to those who keep them in power and it would be insanity for me to agree. They are determined to steal vast portions of my children’s inheritance in their quest to turn us all into mindless, obedient serfs. I don’t approve of that. If they ever succeed with their insane plans–and they may–they will have to invent a new “abused minority” because they don’t know anything other than hatred and the politics of envy. C’mon, and tell the nice people the truth: I have encouraged you to write an article since 2008!
DK: For the record, I like you, I like your attitude, and you just keep on telling it like it is. I don’t have any slaves. I think my two, occasionally three, are more like feudal serfs.
Me, I’m just curious as to how long before all this paper-printing leads to the price of all imported goods rising like mad as our currency declines in purchasing power when measured against the currencies of those countries with growing economies. Not to mention what will inevitably happen to the cost of crude oil from our total lack of a rational energy policy of any sort.
When economic troubles stem from an excess of debt–both private and public–the solution is not to create more debt.
Americans of the 1930s were lucky: They didn’t start out with maxxed-out credit cards. Shows to go ya what “easy credit” can do to folks, listening to the current tales of woe.
The solution is Obama’s takeover of medicine, car-manufacture, banking and home loans? Duh? We’re going broke, and the government is going to Do Good in its usual cost-conscious and efficient manner? Y’know, Dirksen was a piker with his, “A billion here, a billion there, pretty soon it all adds up.” Now we’re talking trillions? This is wisdom?
Outside of success in increasing the amount of socialism in the US, this administration has a track record of the earliest failure of any I’ve seen–and I’ve voted in thirteen presidential elections. This one had shot craps by April of last year. This bunch is making Nixon look good–which is one helluva good trick…

SO Oldmanriver because you dislike my manners you get to insult me and tell me I am the problem with America and then tell me I am rude. I see how it works,
I was replying to Rick Moore for blaming me in essence for America’s problems.
The Ironic thing is how he blames republicans for the bailouts (which they are part to blame) and yesterday Obama was going around taking credit for their so called success. Wonder how Rick feels about that? Not that I care.
As for my anger, yes it exists and I am mad to see that I am finally coming in to my own and no I get to watch my country collapse because to insane liberal policies. I am very fed up. I am tapped out. Forcing me to do things I do not need or want to do. I blame Baby Boomer’s mostly as their generation was full of lazy, greedy, drug addicts who bleed way too much. Their generation is the one in power. These people have no control.
I am sorry to those for getting my dates wrong. I have dyslexia and I am a terrible typer. Sometimes my mistakes look correct to me. I hate it more than anyone.
Also I am a a very , very sarcastic person. I call them like I see them. If it offends you it’s your problem not mine. Just as if you offend me it’s my problem. I do not know you, but if you are a liberal I know your political beliefs.
As for “we are all in this together crap”. That is a big fat load of crap. We have never been in this together and never will be.
You all seem to be intelligent and I won’t deny that.
Rat makes great points and so does Linda.
“Lastly, is are the liberal evil acts such as the Civil Rights Act, Voting Rights Act, Title 9, Medicare, Medicaid, Clean Air, Clean Water, OSHA, the evil of which you speak. I know you are not speaking of Abu Ghraib, that his water mark of Conservatism as evil are you?”
I support civil rights, voting rights for LEGALS, clean Air, clean water, so it is looking like they are not so liberal. Medicare is and will continue to be a failure. I do not support forcing me to buy into big insurance. I do not support cap and trade crapola. We all know Global warmi….er Climate change is a farce and it occurs naturally. Well normal folks do.
Linda,
Yes indeed we do have friendly discussions! I really enjoy the back and forth there is here as well as on the Texas Ring. Nothing keeps one’s mind sharpe like arguing a position for which you believe in. It also either reaffirms the position or it makes you change your mind. It dosnt do me any good to discuss things with people who all agree with me. Yes I remember about the article lol, I keep getting lost in the research lol.
Linda of course you could work with Nancy P., you both would have to make some concessions. Look at what Bill Clinton and a Republican congress were able to do. One of the big things was reforming welfare. A conservative agenda was passed. Ironically Bill Clintons presidency was one of the more conservative era’s in recent history. That’s what can be done if people work together.
DK
If you would re-read my first comment it was to you and to Rick. I pointing out that you both were the problem. I didn’t call you any names, I was speaking specifically about your behavior. Yes we are all in this together. We are all tied together through society and the economy. No man is an island. Your customers have to earn enough money to be able to afford your services. I remember seeing the Army recruiting slogan “Army of One”. What a load of hooey, especially in the Army. They never taught that you were an Army of One. It was all about teamwork and how each person had to do their job for the good of the team. Its the same in society. Our economy is made up of millions of choices everyday by millions of people. This chaos while not organized is the fabric of our nation. Everyone has a role to play. We see the problems it causes when even a few percentage are not working. It has devastating effects on everyone.
As usual, we mean different things by “civil rights” etc. I don’t actually approve of universal suffrage, and will give up my “right” to vote if we return to the original standards the Founding Fathers had in mind. Clean air? Well…let’s be reasonable. We don’t need dirt clean enough to eat, and the highly artificial “standards” set in all these areas are not about the sacred earth but about destroying wealth and controlling us. Medicare and Medicade are immoral and unconstitutional, and if you REALLY want to know what I think I can’t name a single law passed in the last fifty years that I think promotes the general welfare. Every time we let ourselves be suckered by what sounds like “harmless” sentimental sloppy feel-good legislation we go from “protecting” the bald eagle to destroying production and private property rights wholesale.
Linda,
I had a very witty and entertaining reply, unfortunately the filter has eaten it. Yes we do agree about 50% or therabouts
