As a person who has not just been thinking outside the box but spent most of his life living outside the box I have learned (almost) to be content. My training and life has been in all manner of technology and science. The biggest problem I consider in my life is associated with a most successful period of my life as program manager and project engineer. While it felt good to be wanted and so much rewarded for the results of my mental activities, it set me up for a very frustrating "afterlife".
Interacting with society in the real world is like living in an insane asylum. :
1.) A trillion here and a trillion there you pretty soon talk about real money.
2.) A government that has ruined social (in)security, medicare, medicaid,Freddy, Fanny, etc. will repair our health care?
3.) Is there some one out there that can really point out any semblance of rational behavior in our countries "leadership " circles? ( I can see millions of people getting upset with me expressing my opinion, how odd!

Dear Sam:

Very nice! It gave me pause to think, because some of the last Federal Reserve Notes I have not turned into durable goods are tucked--safely, I thought--in a very nice little chain of fewer than twenty banks in small towns. They don't make loans on MacMansions. They don't make loans on shopping malls. The bank president and every person in there recognizes me instantly when I show up every couple of months, and I have only had that account about eight months. They have about a billion dollars, and we all know the saying about "a billion here, a billion there..." Could be my sensible, traditional small bank which thinks a Ninja is Bruce Lee could be ripe for a hostile takeover...

More is tucked away in a military credit union. THEY don't make loans on MacMansions or commercial properties, either, although they will float a loan for a car, sometimes. My thinking was that the government would mess with the soldiers' pay last!

I'm still suggesting we deposit ingots in the West Bank of the Brazos.

Spurt of laughter...could it be that banks are not a "right?"

Regards, LBT

[...] Random Feed wrote an interesting post today onHere’s a quick excerpt“It does gall you. Just because we’re a little bitty county doesn’t mean we don’t need a bank.
